Softball coach guilty of taking money meant for charity

SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah softball coach accused of stealing money from a charity tournament has pleaded guilty.

Shawnn Marie Brakefield, of Hooper, accepted a plea agreement Monday that reduced her original theft charge to a 3rd degree felony.

The 33-year-old Brakefield will be sentenced November 14. She could face up to five years in prison.

Prosecutors say Brakefield stole about $5,000 in 2010 while she was in charge of a soft ball tournament to benefit Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
