Utah accident reports to be available online

SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah Department of Public Safety has announced the launch of the new Accident Reports system that allows citizens to easily retrieve their automobile accident report online at http://crashreport.utah.gov.

According to the most recent data from Utah Highway Patrol, Utah law enforcement agencies process over 56,000 traffic accidents annually.

"We are excited to offer this valuable service to our citizens," said Commissioner Davenport of the Utah Department of Public Safety. "Utahans are some of the most tech-savvy citizens in the nation and expect innovative services such as this. We work very hard to offer services that are both helpful and convenient."

Rather than appearing in person at the responding law enforcement station, the new online system provides the standard accident report over the Internet 24 hours a day. After verifying your identity, the report is available for purchase and can be printed off from the convenience of your own home. Once purchased online, the accident report is also available for up to 10 days. In addition to accident reports from the State Department of Public Safety, all counties have the opportunity and are being encouraged to join the statewide program. The state of Utah is proud to offer this valuable service to the public as part of the many award-winning services that can be found at Utah.gov.
