The GOP and the Tea Party are hellbent on cutting Social Security and Medicare because it is costly. People working are paying into these programs. Why are they against raising taxes on high-income people? They are not helping companies, nor people during our economic slow-down.
Why don't they look at the pay for congressmen? They get freebies and high wages for doing absolutely nothing but fighting between parties. Why don't they take a cut in pay? Even our illustrious Sen. Hatch (if he retires) will receive $126,000 (or more) yearly.
Even a one-term congressman receives a retirement payment, and the regular working person has to work 20-30 years before receiving a decent retirement payment. Fair? I don't think so, especially when nothing seems to be accomplished.
