Crash in Box Elder kills man

PLYMOUTH — A Clearfield man died and his wife was hospitalized Thursday night after their pickup truck rolled on Interstate 15 in Box Elder County.

Utah Highway Patrol officials said that at 7:10 p.m. Arthur Baca, 59, was driving the truck when the passenger rear tire tread came off which caused Baca to lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle went into the median near mile post 391 and rolled with the truck resting upside down. The cab on the driver side of the vehicle was crushed which caused the fatal injuries to Baca. His wife, Helen Baca, 58, suffered back injuries and was transported to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton in fair condition.

Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
