HONOLULU -- Autopsy results are pending for a 20-year-old for a Hawaii-based Marine from Utah.

The Marine Corps says Lance Cpl. Samuel Johnson of North Logan, Utah, was found unresponsive and pronounced dead by first responders Saturday.

Johnson was found dead at a friend's Kalihi home.

The medical examiner's office said Friday a cause of death has been deferred, pending additional testing.

His father Rex Johnson tells the Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://bit.ly/rqvynn) in a phone interview the Marine had been "down a little bit" but seemed to be doing better.

Honolulu police say the death does not appear suspicious. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating.

Samuel Johnson was a field artilleryman with the 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii at Kaneohe Bay.
