No elections for Uintah Highlands Improvement District this year

OGDEN -- The Uintah Highlands Improvement District will not hold elections this year.

The Improvement District is taking advantage of a law passed by the state Legislature allowing municipalities and agencies to cancel elections if there are not enough candidates or if a seat is uncontested. The move can save an entity thousands of dollars.

So far, two cities in Weber County, three municipalities in Box Elder County and no cities in Davis County have cancelled elections.
