Out with Davis County's old logo, in with the new

FARMINGTON -- Connecting people with jobs and to a quality of life to which they have been accustomed is the tag line and branding message Davis County will emphasize from here on out. After a 19-month search, the Davis County Commission on Tuesday approved a new tag line for the county -- "Connects. You." -- along with a green and blue logo with interconnecting D and C lettering.

The tag line and branding logo, prepared by Forthgear, a Kaysville marketing company, were unveiled at the commission meeting.

"Davis County has been known for and is moving forward in a greater way as a player in connecting people with jobs, good business opportunities and the best in quality of life," said Commissioner Louenda Downs.

"Now we are also moving to brand ourselves with a new brand that reflects those connections and the county's future direction."

Long known by some as just a bedroom community, the new tag line and branding tell others the county is wide awake and is a player along the Wasatch Front, said Commissioner Bret Millburn.

"We're waking up. We're not sleepwalking," he said.

"It sends that message that we're open for business," said Kent Sulser, director of community and economic development for the county.

Brett Gee, owner and principal of Forthgear Inc., said creating the logo and tag line has been a great process, and he was amazed at the amount of data county officials provided to his firm in bringing the project together.

Gee described the logo as modern and energetic, with the green and blue in the color scheme being symbolic of life, water and air.

In June, the commission approved a $5,000 contract with Forthgear Inc. to create the logo and tag line for the county.

To save money, the new logo and tag line will begin appearing on Davis County letterhead and stationery after the current office supply stock has been exhausted.
