Utah governor speaking to high school students

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gov. Gary Herbert will speak to high school students statewide during a live broadcast from a branch campus of Utah State University in Blanding.

Herbert will talk about the importance of post-secondary education and will take questions from students at four schools Wednesday. The speech will be broadcast live on the Utah Educational Network.

Herbert is touring the state’s rural areas to discuss job creation and education through Friday. Other scheduled events Wednesday include a town hall meeting in Moab and a tour of a nearby state park.

Herbert says he is not pitching a specific plan for creating jobs in rural Utah during his trip, but simply listening to ideas from residents, business leaders and elected officials.

Herbert will be in central Utah Thursday and southern Utah Friday.
