HomeDepot.com bringing 691 jobs to Ogden

OGDEN -- HomeDepot.com accepted state incentives Thursday to open an 85,000-square-foot sales and customer service center in Business Depot Ogden that will employ 691 workers.

HomeDepot.com is the online subsidiary of the retail giant HomeDepot Inc.

The sales and customer service center will begin operations by August 2012 and will lease space in a new building that will be constructed off Depot Drive, said Steve Fishburn, the city's director of business development.

HomeDepot.com chose Ogden over about 80 cities in the U.S. for the center, said Fishburn. The company is slated to hire 600 workers in 2012 and the remaining 91 within the following year, he said.

The Governor's Office of Economic Development Board approved Friday morning post performance tax credits of $521,867 over 10 years to HomeDepot.com for the project.
