Public can comment on Davis district calendar options

The Davis School District is proposing three calendar options for the 2012-13 school year.

Each option includes winter recess beginning Dec. 22 and returning to school on Jan. 2. The options are as follows:

  • Option 1 — School starts Aug. 27, the week before Labor Day, and ends May 31, the week of Memorial Day. Spring break is April 1, 2 and 3.
  • Option 2 — School begins on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and ends June 6. This option includes a full week off for spring break, April 1-5.
  • Option 3 — The first day of school is Sept. 4, after Labor Day, and includes a three-day spring break. School ends June 6.

The options are now posted online at www.davis.k12.ut.us for public viewing.

Comments are welcome, and residents are encouraged to indicate whether they prefer Option 1, 2 or 3 for the traditional calendar. Email comments to trad@dsdmail.net.

This is not a vote, however. Comments will be considered by the school board before it gives final approval to the calendar.
