OGDEN -- The Weber County Clerk is offering to perform free wedding ceremonies for veterans or active members of the military, police, fire and paramedic forces on Nov. 11.
"Offering to perform marriages at no cost is a very small way to say 'thank you',aC" said Weber County Clerk/Auditor Ricky Hatch.
Hatch will be available during business hours to perform ceremonies. The fee for performing a marriage ceremony is normally $50, paid to the county for ceremonies performed at county offices during business hours, and paid directly to the officiant for ceremonies performed after business hours.
Hatch said his father flew cargo planes in World War II and his son is a U.S. Marine.
"I hope I can help others, just as many others have helped my family," said Hatch.
Time slots for a ceremony can be reserved by calling the Weber County Clerk's Office at 801-399-8452. Couples will need to obtain a valid marriage license at the county offices any day before the end of Nov. 10.
Information about marriage licenses and ceremonies can be found at the county clerk's website: www.co.weber.ut.us/Clerk_Auditor/marriage.php.
