Thanks for the education on socialism and the ridiculous examples and your attempted brain washing that Barack Obama wants shared equality. The scare tactics didn't fool everyone. Bottom line the writer fears equal taxation (Oct. 23 letter, "Socialism removes individual self-improvement").
The rich should pay their fair share. Imagine your share helping a senior who can't afford their medication, or a low wage earner with health insurance.
There are many citizens who work at low paying jobs, but because they are not rich does that mean their lazy and un-deserving. Low wages have aided many rich to become richer. Low wage earners are hard workers and we should appreciate what they do for our nation. The article about the childlike bickering from opponents about each others faults at the Las Vegas debate needs to stop. The writer wants the right to provide their economic plans, all the while bashing the left for the debt we are in. The side show maybe they have no plans. Both parties have merit with issues that need fixing. We all can agree that government has waste and there are programs that need to be cut, but there are good ones too. Big business has also become too big and greedy, along with our bought for politicians. Good luck to our college protesters, maybe they will create some needed changes. No one president or party is to blame for the mess we are in. Nor does one party have all the answers to fix it. We need to find common ground, work together with compromise and quit blaming each other.
