Hands for H.O.P.E. plans fundraiser

ROY -- A woman who founded an organization that helps orphans in Ghana will host her third annual fundraising spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Hope Community Center, 5051 S. 2000 West in Roy.

Calene Lucero, who seven years ago founded Hands for H.O.P.E., which stands for Helping Others Perpetuate Education, seeks to garner community support that will help her start a computer training center, among other things, in the African country.

Her past projects include paying tuition for orphans, building a library and installing a swing set that generates electricity for a town.

Tickets for the event are $5 in advance or $8 at the door.

Food for the event will be donated by Fresh Market.

There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction for gift baskets. Call 801-430-6103 to order tickets.
