SALT LAKE CITY-- QB Jacob Caron who holds numerous offensive records at Pomona-Pitzer, has been assigned to the 2012 Utah Blaze roster. Caron will add depth to the quarterback position for one of the most potent offenses in the Arena Football League in 2011.
"We are excited to sign Jacob Caron to compete for our quarterback position," said coach Ron James. "He is an athletic quarterback with a strong arm and great potential. We expect him to come in and be a great addition to our talented offense for the 2012 season."
Caron (6-foot-3, 230 pounds), currently serves as the quarterback coach for Pomona-Pitzer after having a standout career behind center for the Sagehens over the previous four seasons. Caron set records for career total yardage (9,225), passing yardage (8,408), and completions (651) during his four years. As a senior, he earned the Daley Award, which recognizes outstanding athletic achievement. He ended his career as the No. 10-ranked passer in NCAA Division III football.
In recent weeks, the Blaze also added veteran DB Labrose Hedgemon (5-10, 185, Jackson State) for his third season; DB Bennie Thomas (5-8, 190, Southern Methodist), a promising rookie; popular veteran WR Alvance Robinson (5-9, 175, Alabama State); former Ute DL Neli A'asa (6-2, 295, Utah), and rookies WR Roderick Jefferson (6-5, 240, Lambuth), DL Jacob Hardwick (6-3, 270, Albany State) and DB James Romain (5-11, 170, Delaware State).
