BILLINGS, Mont. -- Fundraisers to help a Billings baseball team with the costs of traveling to the Little League World Series brought in about $80,000.
The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/tVlxmQ ) donations to the Hello Williamsport fund collected just over $50,000 that was distributed to the families of the Big Sky All-Stars for travel expenses.
Big Sky Little League president Tim Leuthold says contributions to the league totaled just over $30,000. He says just over $3,200 went toward expenses related to the team's trip to South Williamsport, Pa. Little League International covered the majority of expenses for the players and coaches.
The league donated $5,000 to the Centennial Park baseball project. The remaining money will be set aside in case any of the Big Sky League's All-Star baseball or softball teams advance to the regional level next year.
