Safely dispose of unused and expired medicines

The American Medicine Chest Challenge is asking residents to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medications.

More and more youth are intentionally abusing prescription medicines.

According to a press release by the AMCC, emergency room visits are doubling and there has been a 400 percent increase in substance abuse treatments related to the abuse prescription drugs. More than six million Americans say they have used prescription medication for a non-medical purpose in the past 30 days, and, 70 percent of people who are abusing prescription pain relievers obtained them from the medicine chests of friends and relatives.

Nov. 12 has been set aside for residents to take the American Medicine Chest 5-Step Challenge.
