MURRAY -- A tow truck was split in half after colliding with a light rail train in suburban Salt Lake County.
The Murray Police Department says the driver of the truck tried to go around the warning gates blocking the tracks about 9 a.m. Monday.
Police say the driver of the truck was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Police say the truck also broke one of the gates when it was spun around by the train.
Witnesses say the gates had been down for up to five minutes when the truck tried to go around them.
The Utah Transit Authority has closed the light rail line in both directions for most of morning.
