Can the Darts deliver on their season-long goals?
Can the Silver Wolves recapture the momentum for two days of glory?
And what about the Lancers and Knights? Is there room for a surprise winner this weekend as the state 5-A volleyball tournament unfolds?
As the state's elite volleyball squads gear up for the 5-A and 4-A tournaments, set for this weekend at Utah Valley University's UCC Center, it is hard to imagine four more battle-tested teams than the top four teams out of this year's Region 1 wars.
The 4-A tournament will also be a tough one to map out, as the 4-A will be tough to predict, and Region 5 powers Box Elder, Sky View and Bonneville are hoping to do some damage this week.
Five teams in the 5-A ranks boast glossy records with 23 or more victories on the season: Davis (26-4), Fremont (25-4), Layton (23-7), Northridge (23-7) and Pleasant Grove (23-5).
Davis earned the edge on the rest of Region 1, and will take on Jordan in its opening-round matchup. A possible second-round matchup with Pleasant Grove awaits.
Fremont meets West Jordan in its opener, while Layton meets Alta and Northridge meets Region 3 champion Brighton.
Region 2's Viewmont plays Region 4 champion Lehi in the opening round, a tough chore for the Vikings.
With three wins in a row, teams will have a shot at the 5-A championship, set for 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The last team from Northern Utah to win a 5-A or 4-A volleyball came in 2004 when Viewmont, under current Davis coach Lori Salvo helped the Vikings claim back-to-back 5-A titles.
The 4-A tournament starts early Friday, with the finale set for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Region 5 co-champion Box Elder (22-7) meets Westlake in Friday's opener. Sky View (18-10) takes on Murray, while Mountain Crest (18-11) meets Region 7 champion Skyline. Bonneville (14-11) draws Olympus in its opener.
Region 5 co-champions Bountiful and Woods Cross are dangerous too. The Braves meet Maple Mountain; Woods Cross takes on Orem.
