Vehicle burglary defendant enters guilty pleas

FARMINGTON -- A second defendant who police say was involved in numerous vehicle burglaries in order to get money to go to Lagoon pleaded guilty to three charges.

Shane Alexx Crandall, 19, of Centerville, entered guilty pleas Monday in 2nd District Court to one count of third-degree felony burglary and two class A misdemeanor counts of vehicle burglary.

A sentencing hearing is set for Dec. 14 before Judge David Hamilton.

Prosecutors agreed to dismiss six counts of vehicle burglary, six counts of theft and two counts of criminal mischief in exchange for the guilty pleas.

Another defendant, Michael Franklin Whitney, 19, is serving one year in jail for his involvement of the thefts in August.

Police said Whitney and Crandall took items out of unlocked cars and a locked storage shed. They then pawned some of the items.
