HIGHLAND -- The Northridge High Knights battled to the final gun against highly touted Lone Peak Knights on Friday afternoon, but in the end, Lone Peak kept its unbeaten season intact with a 21-14 victory in the state 5-A football quarterfinals.
Lone Peak drove down the field on their first drive of the game, scoring on quarterback Chase Hansen's 3-yard touchdown run.
But it was all defense from both teams for the remainder of the first half, as Northridge forced Hansen to throw an interception and cough up a fumble before the break.
Northridge got its first score just before the break, capping a 70-yard drive when Karson Casteel hooked up with David Adams for a 6-yard TD strike.
Once again, Lone Peak marched downfield for another touchdown to open the second half, but Northridge responded with a touchdown of their own, a 9-yard run from Adams.
However, Lone Peak got the last laugh when Hansen connected with Zac Saunders for a TD pass halfway through the final quarter, which proved to be the difference maker.
Northridge finished its season 8-4, while Lone Peak will face Jordan in the semifinals.
