SALT LAKE CITY -- A man is injured and three pit bulls are dead after a bloody dog attack in a Millcreek-area parking lot earlier this week.
Contract worker Darrell Yarbrough was distributing food Tuesday at a mental health facility when three pit bulls started barking and then attacked him.
Yarbrough said he feared for his life until the dogs were finally diverted by mental health staff members who threw a garbage can at them.
Officers from Unified Police Department and Salt Lake County Animal Services responded to the scene, and one of the dogs bit an animal control officer.
Police officers shot two of the pit bulls. The third was captured and euthanized later.
The dogs' owner told animal control officers the pets must have escaped through the open window of her home.
