Hunters at Willard Bay rescued Saturday night

WILLARD BAY -- Rescuers spent hours looking for three hunters in Willard Bay after a call for help Saturday night.

One of the hunters texted his wife to call 911, Box Elder County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Potter said.

The hunter texted that they were north of the north dike at the bay. Potter said it was not clear why they needed 911, and no one was able to phone the hunters because of very poor cell phone reception that far out into the bay.

After at least two and a half hours of searching, a state helicopter spotted one of the men around 10:30 p.m. He led rescuers to the other two. The condition of the three hunters was unavailable Sunday night.
