Ogden Marathon sells out in record time

OGDEN -- Open registration for the 12th annual Zion's Bank Ogden Marathon presented by the GOAL Foundation, sold out in an unprecedented three days, organizers said on Friday.

Open registration for the half marathon will begin on Thursday and is anticipated to sell out even earlier.

It's the second year in a row, the 3,000 capacity marathon has sold out in record time.

"The current record exemplifies the outstanding commitment of our wonderful volunteers and sponsors that make the Ogden Marathon possible," said Jenny Scothern, executive director of the GOAL Foundation.

Registration began on Nov. 1 and officially closed on Nov. 3, at 4:49 p.m.

A handful of entries for the 26.2 race remain through VIP and sponsorship giveaways. Entries for the Kimberly-Clark 5K, KidsK and team registration remain available. Last year registration for the half marathon sold out in five days with the full marathon selling out in only 14 days.

The Ogden Marathon is set to begin on May 19 in Huntsville, travel through Eden, around the Pineview Reservoir and finish on Historic 25th Street in downtown Ogden by way of Ogden Canyon.

Since its inaugural 2000 run, the Ogden marathon has hosted runners from all 50 states and 13 countries. A health and fitness expo will fill Ogden's Historic Union Station on May 18, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Ogden Marathon is USATF certified and is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.
