Uintah trick-or-treater still critical, in coma

SALT LAKE CITY -- The family of a 13-year-old Uintah boy held a candlelight vigil for him Monday evening at Primary Children's Medical Center.

Weber County Sheriff's officials say Jayden Rathbone was injured while trick-or-treating Oct. 31 when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old woman. At the time, Sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther said it was unlikely the driver would be cited, as "it doesn't look like she was at fault in any way at this point."

Jayden's mother, Crystal Conover-Paulsen, has posted information about his condition on her Facebook site.

She states that Jayden is in very critical condition but has leveled off. She states that he remains in a coma.

She also is requesting help to pay for his medical bills, as his hospital stay alone is costing the family $10,000 per day.

Reports indicate that an account has been set up for Jayden at America First Credit Union.

The family also is asking for those concerned to friend the Jayden Rathbone Facebook page for further updates. Well-wishes may be sent to the family at prayforjaydenr@gmail.com.
