Small plane slides off Salt Lake airport runway

SALT LAKE CITY -- Officials say a small plane slid off the runway at Salt Lake City International Airport, but no injuries have been reported.

Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann says the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. She says a Learjet with five passengers and two crew members aboard slid off a runway during an aborted takeoff attempt.

Gann did not immediately have details on the plane's owner or flight plans. She also could not say why the pilot scratched the takeoff at the last-minute.

The runway will be closed for a period of time while authorities investigate.
