DONNA, Texas -- Investigators say a driver has surrendered after two Mormon missionaries on bicycles were killed and a third was hurt after being hit by a car in South Texas.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Johnny Hernandez says the victims wore helmets and were using bicycle lights when they were struck by the oncoming car around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Hernandez said Wednesday that it was dark during the wreck in Donna and the driver ran away, but later surrendered. Charges are pending.

A statement from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints identifies the men who died as 21-year-old Trevor Reinhold Strong of Taylorsville, Utah, and 20-year-old Derek Jason Walker of Fairfield, Idaho.

Hospital officials say 19-year-old Zachary Todd Harris of Huntsville, Ala., was treated and released.
