Top of Utah's Smith's shoppers can help others for holidays

Smith's Food & Drug is offering customers a convenient way to reach out and help others during the holidays.

Through Dec. 31, the store will display a "Bringing Hope to the Table" holiday tree decorated with ornaments representing various levels of cash donations. Customers may select the level of giving and present it to a Smith's checker to add to their grocery order.

Ornament choices include: $3 to support food-filled backpacks given to feed children over weekends; $7 for holiday meal fixings or other most-needed items; and $15 for a turkey or ham. Each store's total donations will be given to their area food bank the week before Thanksgiving, the week before Christmas and the week of Jan. 8. Food banks will be able to purchase the items needed for holiday meals or to restock their shelves for the new year.
