Bomb squad called amid threats at West Jordan bank

WEST JORDAN -- Police and a bomb squad are on the scene at a West Jordan Wells Fargo bank branch after getting reports of a man making threats.

Authorities were called to the bank at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday. West Jordan Fire Department spokesman Steve Holmes says a man was arrested and is being questioned.

Police have cordoned off the area and called in a bomb squad to inspect a suspicious item found inside a car parked about 50 feet away from the building.

Roads around the bank were closed as a precaution.

The threat comes on a day when protesters around the country are marking the two-month anniversary of the birth of the Occupy movement. Participants are opposing corporate excess and income inequality.
