PORTERVILLE -- The Morgan County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday that the deaths of a married couple in Porterville were a murder-suicide.
Family members and deputies found Grant Wadman, 57, and Marilee Wadman, 43, dead in their home at 390 W. Handscrabble Road on Thursday.
Deputies also found two bullet holes in the north-facing windows but could not confirm if they originated from inside or outside the home. They would not say if a weapon was found inside the home.
The evening of Nov. 11 was the last time anyone had contact with the couple, said Deputy Christian Peay. As best as investigators can figure at this point, they would have died sometime over that weekend, he said.
The couple owned two dogs, which were alive and protecting the couples' bodies in the living room from the deputies, he added. They were removed and relocated from the home.
The sheriff's office has a good idea of how the two died, but won't be releasing more information until early next week, Peay said.
The sheriff's office on Thursday said deputies were very familiar with the Wadman residence, as they had responded to domestic disturbances several times in the past two years. Marilee Wadman was found guilty of attempted assault and disorderly conduct this year as the result of an Aug. 31, 2010, incident. Her probation from that conviction had ended three weeks ago, according to court documents.
