Volleyball: Bobcats dispatch Wildcats

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Junior outside hitter Bethany Wray had a match-high 17 kills, but the Weber State University women's volleyball team came up just short in a three-set loss to Montana State on Friday night at Shroyer Gym.

Led by Rachelle Allen's 10-kills, the Bobcats used a balanced effort to edge the Wildcats 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 and gain the home court victory.

Wray also added eight digs and two blocks for the Wildcats (3-12 Big Sky, 3-25 overall). Montana State improved to 3-12 in league play (5-23 overall).

Sophomore outside hitter Briana Wilms added six kills and four blocks for Weber State, while junior right side Dama Cox also had six kills and four blocks, two of which were solo. Sophomore outside hitter Piper Wahlin also had six kills and five digs, with junior libero Michele Arave tallying 11 digs.

There were 27 ties and 12 lead chances across the three sets.

Weber State will wrap up its 2011 campaign tonight against Montana at West Auxiliary Gym. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
