Gary and Karma Dabel of Clinton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner hosted by their daughters.
They were married in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple on Nov. 17, 1961.
Born in Logan on Aug. 9, 1938, he is the son of Ronald and Pearl Irene Herzog Dabel. He was raised in Afton, Wyo., and graduated from Star Valley High School in 1957. He attended Northwestern Community College in Powell, Wyo. He served in the Swiss Austrian LDS Mission from 1958 to 1961. He attended Weber College, worked at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1993, and the Air Force Reserve in 1995.
Born in Brigham City on July 28, 1943, she is the daughter of Melvin Christian and Monta Minnerly Perkins Jensen. She was raised in Mantua and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1961. She worked at Weber College for a few years and then was able to be a stay-at-home mom for many years until returning to work in 1988. She retired in 2009 from the Davis School District, where she had worked as a special education teaching assistant for 21 years.
They are active members of the LDS Church, having served in various callings. They recently returned home from serving together in the Germany Berlin LDS Mission. They enjoy spending time with their family and at their cabin in Smoot, Wyo.
Their daughters are Connie Lemmon, Sandy Carver, Kathy Fortuna and Heather Stokes. Their daughter, Heidi Dabel, died when she was 8 years old.
They have 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
