John and Sonja Dods of Roy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with close friends and family at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant. They also took a two-week cruise and inland tour to Alaska to further celebrate the occasion.
They were married on Nov. 18, 1961, at the home of the groom in Price, after graduating side by side from Carbon High School. They later renewed their vows in the Catholic Church on their 10th wedding anniversary.
He was born Feb. 14, 1943, to Jack and Dean Dods in Price. After high school, he joined the Air Force. He was stationed at various bases in the United States. He retired after 21 years of service. He enjoys fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
She was born in Price Jan. 26, 1943, to Alfonsie and Joan Spensko. She enjoys camping, reading, playing cards and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Their two children and spouses are Kim and Richard Gonzales, and Deana Oram.
They have six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren (one deceased).
