Woman arrested after slow chase being evaluated

BOUNTIFUL — A woman is undergoing a psychological evaluation after a slow-moving car chase that started at 1:17 a.m. Monday.

A Davis County sheriff’s deputy spotted the woman traveling south on Interstate 15 near Bountiful at about 30 mph, said Davis County Sheriff’s Sgt. Sue Poulsen.

The woman turned her 2007 Toyota Corolla onto Legacy Highway, and the deputy attempted to pull her over.

The driver failed to yield, eventually crossing the median into the northbound lane.

Police used road spikes to stop the Toyota. When the woman tried to speed off, she ran into a Woods Cross police vehicle, causing $1,500 in damage, Poulsen said.

Police took the woman to the hospital for a psychological evaluation.

“Right now, she hasn’t been charged with anything, and (the case) will be screened through the county attorney’s office,” Poulsen said.

Because it’s a mental health issue, she said, the woman’s name is not being released.
