FARMINGTON -- A Layton man who police say grabbed a woman in a gym has entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of aggravated kidnapping.
Randy Jess Inman, 25, entered the plea to the first-degree felony in 2nd District Court on Tuesday before Judge Glen Dawson.
Inman is being held in Davis County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
His attorney, Ronald S. Fujino, asked the court to set a date for the hearing several weeks away, to give him time to look at evidence, including a surveillance video.
Dawson set Dec. 13 for the next hearing.
Police said Inman attacked a woman inside Snap Fitness, 781 E. Gordon Ave., Layton, during the early morning hours of Nov. 14. The two were the only people in the gym at the time, as the 24-hour facility is not always staffed.
The woman kicked, screamed and fought to break free from Inman as he tried to drag her into a bathroom, police say. She eventually escaped and called police.
Police used surveillance video to identify Inman as the attacker and arrested him later that day.
