LOGAN -- Utah State is known for one of the most raucous basketball crowds in the country, but school officials say fans went too far in the home opener against rival Brigham Young and Cougars center Brandon Davies.
Utah State posted a letter on its website Tuesday afternoon from President Stan Albrecht and athletics director Scott Barnes apologizing for vulgar language, signs, chants and deeply personal insults directed at an opposing player.
The letter doesn't mention Davies by name, but it was his first game back after being booted off BYU's team in March for breaking the school's honor code.
The letter says Aggies officials personally apologized to BYU's president and athletic director.
Utah State leaders say they want their home winning streak to continue with good sportsmanship.
