UTA will sound horns on Friday

LAYTON -- Utah Transit Authority has designated Friday as "Train for Safety" day.

From 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., all TRAX and FrontRunner trains will sound their horns as they approach every crossing and train platform. UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter said the activity is intended to raise public awareness of the importance of being safe around trains after the agency has experienced a rash of train-related deaths during the past several months.
