I-15 crashes in Clearfield causes traffic delays

CLEARFIELD -- Two separate roll-over accidents snarled southbound traffic on Interstate 15 tonight.

The roll-overs occurred near the 640 North overpass in Clearfield about 7:30 p.m., said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey. That patch of I-15 was slick with ice, he said.

A Utah Department of Transportation crew was on the way to salt the area but had not made it to that stretch of I-15 yet, Tingey said.

One driver had minor injuries.

The second driver, a 23-year-old man, was flown to McKay-Dee Hospital as a precautionary measure since he temporarily lost consciousness at the scene. He was alert and talking when he was flown away, Tingey said.

The accident backed up southbound traffic as far as the 5600 South exit in Roy, according to UDOT.
