Arrest made in University of Utah groping cases

SALT LAKE CITY -- A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of groping women on the University of Utah campus.

Gary Fotheringham was arrested Friday for investigation of forcible sexual abuse and voyeurism.

Police say he allegedly committed five separate criminal acts on Nov. 4.

He's accused of using a camera to take pictures of women in a locker room in two cases, then fondling three women on campus. They say two of the latter victims scared off the suspect by screaming.

Police believe the attacks were random and the women just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Fotheringham, who's believed to be homeless, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. His bail was set at $200,000.
