Greatest prep cross country season ever?

With Davis High's third-place finish in the Nike National Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Utah could be savoring its best season ever.

Davis' finish is the best for a Utah team since Nike started running national championships. American Fork was sixth, and ran without its top runner.

Davis coach Corbin Talley credited each runner who ran as a group with the overall finish. While senior Brad Nye led the way, underclassmen Brayden Cromar, Preston Johnson, Logan Wood, Skylar Williams and Jackson Sager ran as a strong group.

The Darts will be aiming higher in 2012.

Ogden's contingent of girls standouts Sarah Feeny and Jamie Stokes and Jordon Cross from the boys squad all posted top 100 efforts.

Combine that with Box Elder runner Kelsey Braithwaite's second-place run at the Foot Locker Cross Country Regionals on Saturday, along with finishes by Mountain Crest's Miranda O'Very (26th), and Sky View's Conner Mantz (25th) and Syracuse's Brandon Yardley (85th) on the boys side.
