Helen W. Baur of South Ogden celebrated her 100th birthday with 75 family members on Dec. 3 with a dinner and program held at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant.
She was born Dec. 6, 1911, in Pocatello, Idaho, to James Edward and Sarah Hopkins Watlington. She spent her youth in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High School. In 1936, she married Ownes F. Baur. They lived in Preston, Idaho, until 1959, when they made Ogden their home. He died in 2000 after 64 years of marriage.
She has enjoyed life with many trips, china painting, sewing, church activities, and spending time with her family. She enjoys cooking and making caramels, butter mints, and chocolates for family and friends.
She has enjoyed being a homemaker and mother to her four daughters: Judith and Joseph Pymm Chartrand, Charlotte and Jerry Zaugg, Pamela and Darwin Brimhall, and Myrth and Jerry Priest. She has 16 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
