LAYTON -- The Ellison Park skate park, which often sees between 100 and 150 skateboarders, rollerbladers and bicyclists on any given summer night, is closed for the winter season, as city crews make needed repairs. The park will open again in spring 2012.
The repairs needed to get the skate park back in shape are not major, but they are necessary.
The concrete needs to be fixed in three spots, not in the bowls but in places frequented by the skate park users.
"If water gets below the concrete, then it will freeze and expand," Parks Supervisor Ryan Pickup said.
The expansion of the ice inside the cracks would result in potholes in the concrete.
