Defensive driving classes offered by Utah Safety Council, four-hour defensive driving courses for individuals in the Ogden area, 8 a.m.-noon, two Saturdays per month; 6-10 p.m., one Tuesday per month. Drivers may complete the course for a 50-point reduction from their Utah driving record, once every three years. $40 per person, or $10 for those age 55 and over who are seeking a reduction in their insurance rate. Tuesday

A service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Service Office will be available to provide assistance to assist veterans in understanding and applying for VA benefits including compensation, pension, hospitalization, education, and other benefits from 2 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 13, at 1290 E. 1450 South at Clearfield Department Workforce Services Employment. He will also be at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home, 1102 N 1200 W, December 14, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a free service to all veterans. Please bring the following documents so that we may better serve you: DD form 214, marriage/divorce papers, birth/adoption/death certificates, and children's social security numbers.

Davis County NAMI Connections support group, 7 p.m., IHC Bountiful Clinic, 390 N. Main, Bountiful. A free recovery support group program for adults living with mental illness, the groups provide a place that offers respect, understanding, encouragement, and hope. Groups are confidential and participants can share as much or as little personal information as they wish. Open to all adults with mental illness, regardless of diagnosis.
