FARMINGTON -- A 21-year-old man pleaded guilty to two charges related to a carjacking in Layton earlier this year.
Andrew Brigman entered a guilty plea on Thursday to a second-degree felony theft and a third-degree felony attempted theft in 2nd District Court before Judge Thomas L. Kay.
Kay sentenced Brigman to serve one to 15 years in the Utah State Prison on the second-degree felony and up to five years on the third-degree felony. He ordered that the two sentences be served concurrently with another prison sentence Brigman is already serving on a unrelated charge.
Police said Brigman and another man approached an employee at TCBY Yogurt in Layton as she walked to her car after work shortly before 11 p.m. March 12. One of the men waved a gun at the employee and demanded her keys and cellphone.
They then took off in the woman's 1998 black Subaru Forester.
Brigman was arrested in the backyard of 670 E. 1300 North in Ogden by Ogden police after a car crash.
