MOUNTAIN GREEN -- Two young people were taken to the hospital as a precaution after a driver failed to check his blind spot in Weber Canyon, police say.
The 18-year-old man was driving east on Interstate 84 in a Honda Civic when he decided to change lanes near Mile Marker 90, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Weston Mitton. But he did not check his blind spot and ran an adjacent black Ford Escape off the road about 3:28 p.m., Mitton said.
A 12-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl in the Escape were taken to an area hospital as a precaution, he said. Their injuries were not believed to be serious.
The two and their father, who was driving, were lucky they did not run into a concrete barrier or have a much worse accident, which are prone to happen in the canyons, Mitton said.
The Honda driver was cited for improper lane change.
