MORGAN -- All is right with the world again.
After an uncharacteristic three-game losing streak, the Morgan Trojans returned to their bread and butter Tuesday night: blowing teams out.
Morgan senior Kelsey Henry scored 25 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had seven steals to lead the Trojans to an easy 72-33 win over Grantsville in the Region 11 opener. Henry scored 16 of her points in the third quarter to help Morgan back to the .500 mark.
"It was good to win again," Morgan coach Brad Matthews said. "We started a little slow. We were settling for some jump shots and missed a couple of layups. It took us a while to get going. But once we did, we really started playing well."
Grantsville was Morgan's first 3-A opponent of the year and if the Trojans hadn't pulled way back on the throttle in the fourth quarter, they might have flirted with 100 points.
Morgan led by 26 at halftime, 45-19, and then came out of the locker room and scored the first 15 points of the third quarter. The Trojans outscored the Cowboys 22-5 in the period to take a 43-point lead into the fourth quarter.
"I think we're a good team," Matthews said. "Our players don't have a lot of varsity experience. Only two girls really had a lot of experience. But they're learning how to play together, and it's a good time with region starting a little earlier. We've still got some things to work on but I think we're looking good. We're happy with where we're at."
Rashel Blazzard added 18 points and six assists for the Trojans, while fellow sophomore McKenzie Schenk had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lisa Van Campen, yet another sophomore, came off the bench for five points, six rebounds and six blocked shots.
Shayla White scored 14 points to lead the winless Cowboys.
* OGDEN 34, BEN LOMOND 21: At Ogden High, the host Tigers built a lead in the third quarter, turning a strong defensive effort into a league victory.
Amy Ulrich scored 10 points for Ogden, while Hayley Lythgoe added nine and Kelsey East chipped in with eight.
Taylor Hughes scored 10 for the Scots, but no other Ben Lomond player managed more than three points.
Leading 15-7 at the half, the Tigers outscored the Scotes 12-5 in the third period.
