Man arrested in fatal Taylorsville hit-and-run

TAYLORSVILLE -- Police have arrested a man from El Salvador in the hit-and-run death of a 22-year-old Taylorsville resident.

KSTU-TV reports 26-year-old Samuel Isaac Ramos faces a third-degree felony charge of leaving the scene of a deadly accident.

He was booked Tuesday into Salt Lake County's Metro Jail. Authorities placed an immigration hold on Ramos and have not set bail.

Alexander Atkin's body was found in a crosswalk shortly before 2 a.m. Monday in Taylorsville. Police believe he was struck about 10 p.m. Sunday while walking home from a friend's house.

It was not immediately clear if Ramos has an attorney.
