Overstock holds auction for excess merchandise

SALT LAKE CITY — Overstock.com is holding its first auction to get rid of excess merchandise — by the pallet.

Salt Lake City auctioneer Rob Olson calls it Overstock’s overstock.

His company, Erkelens & Olson, will hold the auction Thursday at Overstock’s Salt Lake City warehouse.

Everything from Cuisinart coffee makers to Dyson vacuum cleaners will go on sale with no minimum bid.

Overstock’s 240 pallets of general goods will be available for inspection a day ahead of the auction.

Overstock also has an outlet store in Sandy for discounted items.
