The author of the letter, "Israel is becoming a strategic liability," seems to like to twist the facts about Israel. He wrote that any criticism of Israel is met immediately with the charge of anti-Semitism. This is not true, I have never seen in this forum that anybody, including me, ever charged him with being anti-Semitic.
There were never 800,000 Palestinian refugees in the end of 1948 according the UNESCO and other refugee Organizations. The Palestinian leaders did not and would not let Israel make any words of compassion to the Palestinians people. The 550,000 to 600,000 Palestinian refugee's were not forcibly uprooted, This is a lie.
I was in the Givati Brigade that liberated all of the Negev, we were never ordered or given orders to force any Palestinians out of Palestine or Israel.
There are no squalid refugee camps, in fact there are no refugee camps at all. The are refugee's neighborhoods in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Jordan; they live in homes not tents or barracks. But they can not live outside there area, can not vote, or work out side there area, forbidden by their Arab leaders, not by Israel. The author should go to visit one of those refugee camps; he will find out that many of our own American citizens don't live that nice in America.
Many, if not all, Palestinian homes in Jerusalem were paid for in hard cash by Jewish Organizations even before 1948, not talking about how much the Jewish people paid for land owned by the rich Palestinian land owners whom lived in Egypt or Lebanon.
While I am at it I would like the author of the letter to know that the Holocaust was not the foundation for the UN decision to approve an independent Israel. The Jewish people were promised a Jewish home land in 1917 in the Balfour Declaration and again in 1920 by the League of Nations in 1923, way before the Holocaust.
In 1922, England cut off 70-75 percent off from Palestine, nobody complained or started a war. It created a new country, Trans-Jordan with 85-90 percent Palestinian Arabs as Jordanian citizens.
The little piece that was left, was again promised to the Jewish people, but in 1947 that was again divided by the UN in Israel and Palestine.
One more question, does anybody believe that if Israel disappears, peace will breakout all over the world and terrorism will stop?
