Farr West council OKs golf easement appraisal

FARR WEST -- City council members unanimously approved an appraisal of the Remuda conservation easement.

Golf course owner Jim Aland, who originally brought the idea of the easement to the city, said he wanted to thank the council members and Mayor Jimmie Papageorge for their service in the past year. He said with the council's approval the mayor could now send a letter to the Internal Revenue Service showing the results of the appraisal.

Aland said the amount reflects the $2.8 million difference between the value of the property as it sits today and the value once a conservation easement is placed on it.
