Animal adoption event Saturday

FRUIT HEIGHTS -- Getting adoptable dogs and cats into warm homes in time for Christmas may take Santa's touch.

Davis County Animal Care and Control will hold a special adoption event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 1422 E. 600 North, Fruit Heights.

All animals adopted that day will get a picture with Santa Claus and a special care package, Davis County Animal Care and Control Director Clint Thacker said.

"This adoption event will enable us to put animals in loving homes for the holidays," said Tracy Roddom, Davis County shelter manager.

Roddom said the shelter is encouraging anyone who is thinking of adopting an animal as a gift to discuss the decision with the potential recipient first. "A gift with this much responsibility may be too much for someone," she said. "Our goal is to not see the pets come back."
